How do I know if my child needs an assessment?
Not really sure if or why you need an assessment for your child? That’s okay. At Premier Psychology experienced psychologists will meet with you, listen to your concerns, and give you suggestions about what assessments are appropriate and what is involved before any assessment is begun. You get the information you need to make the best decision for you and your child. You choose if, when, and what assessments are done with a full understanding of how an assessment may help you and your child. You’re in control.
What is involved in an assessment?
Each child is an individual who has individual strengths and challenges. At Premier Psychology our assessment process allows parents to target the assessment of specific concerns or to broaden the scope of an assessment to gain additional information to benefit the child. It allows parents the ability to gather information and strategies to address
one or multiple concerns at a time. Assessments require information to be gathered from four areas; parents, teachers, clinician observation, and standardised measures such as questionnaires, intelligence tests etc. Each assessment at Premier Psychology covers these areas. This is a standard assessment. Using Choice Assess, parents can then add elements to an assessment such as a school observation or home visit. This is done in consultation with the appropriate health professional/s.
How much does an assessment cost?
There are many different types of assessment, and the cost of each varies. A standard assessment with a registered psychologist begins at $800, though assessment costs can be significantly reduced if conducted by a Provisional Psychologist under the supervision of a Clinical Psychologist. If additional elements are required, the cost will be discussed with you prior to any assessment occurring.
